Privacy
This website collects nothing. The app collects nothing. Both statements are short because there is genuinely nothing to describe.
This website
- No cookies are set, and no local storage is used.
- No analytics, no tag manager, no pixels, no A/B testing.
- Nothing is loaded from third-party servers. The typefaces are served from this domain, so no request ever goes to Google Fonts or any CDN, and your IP address is never passed on that way. The one exception is the app video on the home page — see below — and only once you start it.
- There is no contact form and no newsletter. If you write to verynicedevelopments@gmail.com, your message is handled by Gmail and kept only as long as it takes to answer it.
The site is hosted by Netlify (Netlify Inc., San Francisco, USA). Like every web server, Netlify processes the technical data a browser sends when it requests a page — IP address, time, requested file, user agent — in order to deliver it and to defend against attacks. That processing rests on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in operating a website that works. Netlify’s own privacy statement is at netlify.com/privacy.
Links to Google Play open Google’s servers, which have their own terms and their own data collection. Nothing about you is sent along by this site.
The video on the home page
The home page shows a short app tour hosted on YouTube (Google Ireland
Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Until you tap it, only a picture
served from this domain is shown and no connection to YouTube is made. When you tap it, the
video is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced
mode: your browser then connects to Google’s servers, which receive at least your IP
address and the address of this page, and YouTube may store data on your device once the
video plays. Google may also process data in the USA. The legal basis is your consent,
Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given by tapping the video; you can simply not tap it. Google’s
privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
The Android app
Harmonica Cheatsheet has no internet permission at all. It cannot send data anywhere, and that is a property of the app package rather than a promise. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting.
The single permission it requests is the microphone, and only when you switch practice mode on. Audio is analysed as it arrives, frame by frame, purely to work out which note is sounding. Nothing is recorded, nothing is written to storage, and the audio stream is released as soon as practice mode is switched off.
Settings you change are stored on the device in the app’s own data area. They stay there, they survive updates, and uninstalling the app removes them.
The full policy, in all 21 languages the app speaks, is published at https://allradmuelleimer.github.io/harmonica-cheatsheet/ and is the version Google Play links to.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and you may complain to a supervisory authority. Since no personal data is stored beyond your emails and Netlify’s server logs, most of these rights have little to attach to — but the address to write to is on the imprint page.
